Biography

Pier Giorgio Ostili was born in Turin in 1938. He graduated from the Artistic High School and the Albertina Academy. He taught painting disciplines at the First Artistic High School in Turin. His life is almost entirely dedicated to teaching and aesthetic research, which Ostili defines through a continuous production of works ranging from painting to photography (photo-painting) and the exploration of new techniques and artistic languages. He also engages in writing, investigating the behaviours, systems, and matrices that drive art in human thought.

Unpredictable Research: Ostili's Syncretic Art.
The technique of artist Ostili is a creative process that merges photography and painting. Using analogue photography, Ostili uses slides as a base for his work. With a small brush and acrylic colours, he directly intervenes on the slides, similar to the work of a miniaturist. After completing the intervention, he enlarges the resulting drawing through cibachrome printing, a high-quality photographic printing technique that is no longer replicable today. The result is an artwork that combines photographic and pictorial elements, with details emphasized by Ostili's painting intervention, creating a unique and unrepeatable work.

Pier Giorgio Ostili nasce a Torino nel 1938. È diplomato al Liceo Artistico e all’Accademia Albertina. Ha insegnato discipline pittoriche presso il Primo Liceo Artistico di Torino. La sua vita è quasi interamente dedicata alla docenza e all’attività di ricerca estetica, che Ostili definisce attraverso una continua produzione di opere che spaziano dalla pittura alla fotografia (fotopittura) e dalla ricerca di nuove tecniche ai linguaggi artistici. Si dedica inoltre all’attività di scrittura, indagando i comportamenti, i sistemi e le matrici che muovono l’arte nel pensiero umano.

Ricerche Imprevedibili: L’Arte Sincretica di Ostili
La tecnica dell’artista Ostili è un processo creativo che fonde fotografia e pittura. Utilizzando la fotografia analogica, Ostili impiega le diapositive come base per il suo lavoro. Con un piccolo pennello e colori acrilici, interviene direttamente sulle diapositive, in maniera simile al lavoro di un miniaturista. Dopo aver completato l’intervento, fa ingrandire il disegno risultante tramite stampa su cibachrome, una tecnica di stampa fotografica di alta qualità oggi non più replicabile. Il risultato è un’opera d’arte che unisce elementi fotografici e pittorici, con dettagli enfatizzati dall’intervento pittorico di Ostili, creando un’opera unica e irripetibile.
